What is an MP3?

An MP3 is simply a computer file that stores music in a particular format. Technically speaking, MP3 file format uses lossy compression, which means that the file keeps as much of the original music information as possible while greatly reducing the size of the file needed to store the music. On Rhapsody , each song from each artist is stored and downloaded as a single MP3 file. A typical MP3 file is usally a few megabytes in size. For more information about the MP3 format, see the Wikipedia article here.

What is Rhapsody?

Rhapsody is a music download service from the company RealNetworks. It is the largest and most trusted music download service on the web, with 80,000 artists and 3 million songs to choose from. In other words, Rhapsody is the correct and LEGAL way to download and enjoy an unlimited amount of music.

What kind of Rhapsody memberships are available?

Rhapsody has two kinds of memberships available. The Rhapsody Unlimited membership plan costs $9.99 per month and lets you download an unlimited number of songs to play on your PC, MAC, or Linux computer. The only limitation is that you cannot transfer your songs to a portable music player like the iPod. The Rhapsody-To-Go membership plan has all the features of the Rhapsody Unlimited plan, but it also allows you to play your music on your iPod or other portable music player. The Rhapsody-To-Go membership plan costs $14.99 per month. Both of these plans are now offering free 14 day trials.
